Each client’s goals and situation are unique. For this reason, I find it is often beneficial to schedule a free consultation along with your first session. I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel or reschedule within 48 hours of your appointment, then you will be charged the full session fee.
What to expect
At the start of each session, I check in about how you are feeling and what you have noticed since the previous session. Then I begin a structural analysis where I look at posture and movement patterns, assess functions, and observe changes session-by-session. This information is used to see how your body is functioning effectively and where there could be more ease. From there, you will transition to a therapy table where the hands-on work will take place.
I'll apply gentle, specific hands-on techniques and sometimes ask you to perform movements that make the techniques more effective. I'll check in with you to make sure the pressure is ok, but always feel free to speak up and let me know. Occasionally, I'll ask you to stand up, move around, and notice any changes you might experience in your body before returning to the table. About 10 minutes before the end of your allotted time, I'll step out of the room while you dress, then we'll handle payment and scheduling.
For many people, the changes felt during a session are instant. For others, changes emerge over the course of a few days.
What to wear
If you have breasts, they need to be covered—something two-piece, like a bathing suit or bra and underwear, will typically suffice. From the waist down, underwear or close-fitting shorts are fine. It generally helps if your clothing allows easy access to the skin of your upper legs and back, but you are always welcome to wear more clothing if you prefer. Your comfort and dignity are most important.
My office is well-heated and well-ventilated, and I am always willing to make adjustments for you. I can also cover you with a sheet or blanket while we work.
Please avoid fragrances, as they can linger and irritate others.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends. Everyone has their own goals, and most people are initially unsure of how SI can help them. I suggest starting by contacting me for a free consultation, or just scheduling a single session to see if it’s a fit. After your first session, I’ll help you determine an approach suited to your needs.
How much time should I schedule between sessions?
It really depends on your goals, availability, budget, and how much time your body needs to process in between sessions. If you’re looking to recover from chronic pain, it’s usually better to schedule more frequently at first (weekly, if possible), then taper off. If you’re going through a full SI series, it’s good to have more continuity for certain parts of the series. When we meet, we'll figure something out that works for your unique goals and circumstances.
