Hi - thanks for signing up for a consult!
Watch Your Texts
I’m going to reach out to you ASAP and do my best to schedule your consult, often times on the same day. Watch your texts for a message from me - that’s usually how I reach out first.
Be sure to add my number, (503) 410-3776, to your contacts, so that my message doesn’t get filtered to your “unknown senders.” Otherwise, check that filter for my text.
If you don’t hear back from me within an hour or so, I’m probably in a session. I’m often able to send texts in between sessions; if so, I’ll reach out then to propose some times. If it’s a weekend, I may be out of town and beyond cell range, in which case you can expect to hear from me as soon as I’m back within range.
What to Expect During the Consult
During the consult, I’ll ask you what your three main challenges are. Sometimes there is one over-arching problem, sometimes there are several smaller things adding up to something bigger.
I’ll probably ask you about your history. Maybe your problem has been nagging you for years, or perhaps it’s something more immediate.
I’ll also probably ask about your lifestyle, job, etc. Modern pain science shows us that these factors, which contribute to stress, are highly relevant to our pain experience.
My goals with the consult are to determine:
1. Do we have a good connection? Is there some level of trust between us?
2. Is your situation within my professional scope and expertise?
3. Do you feel like you resonate with what I have to say?
If the answer to all of these is “yes,” then the next step would be to schedule an appointment.
If the answer to any of these is “no,” then I may offer to refer you to another practitioner. I don’t have an answer or referral for every situation, but for many common situations, I do.
Hopefully, this answers your questions about what to expect. I’ll be reaching out to you soon, and I look forward to talking with you.
